Once again, World of Warcraft is reinventing one of its much-loved expansions, this time in the form of WoW Classic Cataclysm. So you can relive your glory days with some added benefits, such as faster content acceleration, leveling improvements, and an additional difficulty level in the Dungeon Group Finder. Fortunately for our readers, we’ve found out all there is to know about this new and improved content drop, so you know exactly what to expect when it’s time to give into action. What Do We Know About WoW Cataclysm Classic?
The reinvention of this adventure is bringing with it more than nostalgia; you can expect new level caps, new dungeons and raids, seven expansive new zones, two new races (Goblins and Worgen), access to elemental planes, customizable characters, and even more. So, let’s break down some of these aspects so you have the best understanding of how to navigate the new content when it hits our screens: #
New Player Races
With the launch of Cataclysm in WoW Classic, you will have the option to be one of two new races as you navigate the land: Goblins and Worgens. Each has its own unique starting zones, and we will come to understand what brought the Gilnean Worgens and the Kezan Goblins back to the Alliance or the Horde.
For both new races, you will be able to play as eight of the ten available races in-game. Neither race is able to be Paladin, Goblin players can not play as Druid, and Worgen is unable to play as Shaman.
New Dungeons and Raids
With the return of WoW Classic Cataclysm, it has been announced that there will be three new raids and nine new dungeons for you to indulge in. Take a look at the list below:
WoW Cataclysm Dungeons
- Blackrock Caverns - Battle against Rom’ogg Boecrusher, Corala, Herald of Twilight, Karsh Steelbender, Beauty, and Ascendant Lord Obsidius in the subterranean labyrinth.
- Throne of the Tides - Battle Lady Naz’jar, Commander Ulthok, the Festering Prince, Mindbender Ghur’sha, and Ozumat within the Abyssal Maw’s expanses.
- Vortex Pinnacle - Battle Grand Vizier Ertan, Altarius, and Assad, Caliph of Zephyrs, in the elemental plane of Skywall.
- The Stonecore - Battle Corborus, Slabhide, Ozruk, and High Priestess Azil within the Temple of Earth.
- The Lost City of Tol’vir - Battle General Husam, Lockmaw, High Prophet Barim, and Siamat in the stronghold of Neferset.
- The Halls of Origination - Battle Temple Guardian Anhuur, Earthrager Ptah, Anrapher, Isiset, Construct of Magic, Ammunae, Construct of Destruction, and Rajh, Construct of Sun in the great titan's horde of ancient relics.
- Grim Batol - Battle General Umbriss, Forgemaster Throngus, Drahga Shadowburner, and Erudax, the Duke of Below.
- Deadmines - Battle Glubtok, Helix Gearbreaker, Foe Reaper 5000, Admiral Ripsnarl, “Captain” Cookie, Vanessa Vancleef in the Deadmines’ gold deposits.
- Shadowfang Keep - Battle Rethilgore, Fel Steeds (Shadow Charger), Razorclaw the Butcher, Baron Silverlaine, Commander Springvale, Odo the Blindwatcher, Deathsworn Captain, Fenrus the Devourer, Wolf Master Nandos and Archmage Arugal in the Silverpine Forest.
In addition to having access to these new dungeons, there will be increased drops for dungeons that continue throughout the WoW Cataclysm Classic runtime. The Dungeon Group finder will also provide players with a better system for recruiting teammates, queueing, and connecting.
WoW Cataclysm Raids
- Throne of the Four Winds - You will battle Al’Akir on a unique circular platform (AVG ilvl Drop 359)
- Blackwing Descent - You will battle against Nefarian and Maloriak in the formers lair, which features new mechanics (AVG ilvl Drop 359)
- Bastion of Twilight - You will battle against Cho’gall and Sinestra in the southwestern Twilight Highlands (AVG ilvl Drop 359)
New WoW Cataclysm Classic Zones
To offer players a refreshing twist on the existing WoW Classic Cataclysm experience, Blizzard has introduced seven new zones for players to enjoy and explore. Check out where your journey could take you below:

New WoW Cataclysm Classic Profession and Changes
To give players even more to sink their teeth into, WoW Classic Cataclysm is introducing a new secondary profession, allowing for a new way to traverse Azeroth and make new discoveries. Archaeology will see players exploring the land, uncovering artifacts, and creating new collections. Taking on this profession will see you earning unique rewards such as toys, pets, mounts, and new achievements; for some lucky Archeologists, vital endgame gear can be found and utilized. Best of all? The endgame gear that can be obtained is account-bound and can be shared across all of your characters, so you can get your hands on gear for all of your characters while only having to focus on Archaeology with one.
Of the artifacts you can receive using this profession, you can obtain 15 toys, five pets, two mounts, and several other items. There are also 19 achievements to be gained when training this profession, so it’s safe to say that Blizzard has gone above and beyond to give its users a new and exciting view of Cataclysm in WoW Classic.
