So it's the perfect time to grow your knowledge, hone your skills and get ready for action. Within this article, we'll take a look at new classes, races, features, and all the other exciting aspects that will soon hit our screens. The War Within is the tenth expansion in the WoW series, following on from the much-loved Dragonflight, and is the first installment of the 'Worldsoul Saga' trilogy. So, if you're looking for some more in-game action after adventuring through the Dragonflight expansion, let's get into the finer details!
World of Warcraft: The War Within - What to Expect?
There's so much excitement surrounding this upcoming expansion, but what are we waiting to get our hands on? With each new introduction to the game, there are many possibilities for new mounts, weapons, races, and an abundance of other phenomenal features. This expansion is no different, bringing with it all of the above and so much more, so let's take a look at what exactly we can expect:
WoW TWW New Class Changes
World of Warcraft: The War Within is introducing Hero Talents. This in-depth class-fantasy system lets players customize their characters more than ever before, bringing more life to their adventures. Hero Talent trees will build upon the preexisting structure in-game and offer players some nostalgia with iconic Warcraft archetypes. Here’s how it all works:
- Three trees total per class, with two that can be swapped between per spec.
- Hero Talent trees will be unlocked automatically at level 71.
- One talent point per level is earned between levels 71-80.
- Each Hero Talent tree has 10 talents total, and each tree has several choice nodes that players can choose from.
- Players have a low opportunity cost for swapping and respect between trees.
WoW TWW New Race - The Earthen
With the introduction of World of Warcraft: The War Within, you'll also find an entirely new ally race, 'The Earthen.' This new race is Titan-forged that has been imbued with the Worldsoul of Azeroth. You will be able to access the Earthen in both the Horde and the Alliance. Check out some of their traits below:
- Azerite Surge: Draws from inner strength and, when released, invokes the power of Azerite as a cone before you. This will inflict Fire Damage; it comes with a two-minute cooldown and is an empowered spell that gains additional effects when empowered.
- Hyper Productive: This increases Finesse by 2%, which increases the chance of gaining additional materials during bouts of gathering.
- Ingest Minerals: You will always be 'Well Fed' but unable to consume food. Activate this to consume a Khaz Algar gem and change the benefits gained from Well Fed.
- Titan-Wrought Frame: A base armor from equipped items can be increased by 10%.
- Wide-Eyed Wonder: When XP is gained from exploration of a location, 100% additional exploration XP will be added.
WoW TWW Dungeons
Another exciting aspect of this new expansion is the eight new dungeons for players to take on. These dungeons fall into two categories: the level-up and the max-level dungeons. Take a look below:
Level-Up Dungeons
- The Rookery
- The Stonevault
- Priory of the Sacred Flame
- City of Threads
Max-Level Dungeons
- Cinderbrew Meadery
- Darkflame Cleft
- The Dawnbreaker
- Ara-Kara, City of Echoes
World of Warcraft: The War Within - What Else Is New?
Along with all of the above, there's still much to be explored within this expansion. Starting with the new zones, progression system, professions and much more. So, let's take a look at what's new:
New Zones in The War Within
Within World of Warcraft: The War Within, you will be venturing far beneath the surface of Azeroth to uncover Khaz Algar, this subterranean world brimming with previously undiscovered secrets. Take a look below at some of the new areas that you can explore:
- Isle of Dorn - The starting zone for this upcoming expansion, stacked with mountains, vibrant natural areas and breathtaking landscapes. This new area is home to the Earthen race, and the capital city will act as the central meeting ground for the Horde and Alliance.
- The Ringing Deeps - This enormous cave system is the home of the Machine Speakers and where the Earthen get their work done while also ensuring that the Titan Machines of old are always kept in motion.
- Hallowfall - This cratered area is to the north and bordered by many rock formations, where a giant crystal is situated above the land to provide light to the Arathi, the civilization that works to defend their land and its borders from constant threats from the Nerubian.
- Azj-Lahet - The heart of Nerubian society in which the Harbinger of the Void is growing her army, and dark overtones seep from the area. In addition to all of this darkness, dangerous arachnid forces are crawling across all areas of the landscape.
New Profession Updates in The War Within
There have been no new professions introduced with the tenth expansion of WoW, but there have been tweaks and other minor adjustments made throughout all of the following professions:
- Alchemy
- Blacksmithing
- Enchanting
- Engineering
- Inscription
- Jewelcrafting
- Leatherworking
- Tailoring
- Herbalism
- Mining
- Skinning
- Cooking
- Fishing
In addition to these minor changes, there are some systems that were introduced in Dragonflight that will be reappearing in TWW in WoW. Reagent Quality has been scaled very differently in this expansion, with lower-level average players receiving fewer bonuses. Ingenuity is again a Secondary Stat which replaces Inspiration, and Crafting Orders will see the addition of NPC Work Orders.
New Progression System in The War Within
In World of Warcraft: The War Within, a new quality-of-life change has been implemented called 'Warbands.' These bring a variety of systems which are designed to make multiple-character progression management a lot smoother for players. Here's what has been said on the matter so far:
- Warband Bank: This reagent bank has multiple tabs to allow for easy transfer of reagents and items between characters.
- Transferable Gear: Some gear will be marked as 'Warbound' to allow players to send their gear between characters.
- Transferable Currencies: Players will now be able to transfer currencies to the characters they are playing directly using the User Interface.
- General Account-Wide Progression: Previously, character-specific progressions are being integrated into an account-wide system in WoW The War Within. Some examples include Transmog collections, Reputation, Delves, Flight paths and Achievements.
New Raids in World of Warcraft: The War Within
For those of you looking for a new raid to take on, we've got some good news for you! As of September 10th, the new Nerub'ar Palace raid will be available to players in Normal and Heroic, with the Mythic version opening on the 17th. This is an eight-boss raid in Azj-Kahet that's sure to bring some heart-racing action, as you'll expect to face off against Queen Ansurek and her allies. Her paranoia is growing, and members of the conspiratorial Severed Threads are done with her sitting on the throne, leaving no room for anything but all-out war.
New Endgame Content - Delves
Another new WoW TWW feature is Delves. This is a brand new form of endgame content, composed of outdoor vaults that players can explore while partaking in the Dragonscale Expedition. Take a look below at what we know so far:
- Players can complete Delves in groups made up of 1-5 players.
- They are role-agnostic, so players of any specialization can partake.
- Delves are to be worked into Seasonal Content, allowing players to earn rewards, pets, mounts and more for the season. Seasonal NPCs will also be present to assist players with Delving.
- A new Outdoor row added to the Great Vault, so players can complete Delves for Great Vault rewards weekly.
Sky riding in TWW in WoW
Skyriding was introduced in Dragonflight, but it's here to stay (for now). In The War Within it will be expanded upon, giving players multiple methods of transport to choose from as they navigate these new areas and adventures. Check out what we know below:
- Skyriding is available immediately upon arrival in Khaz Algar.
- The Talent Tree for Skyriding is moving to a more evergreen system.
- Skyriding Glyphs (formerly Dragonriding Glyphs) are available across Khaz Algar for players to collect.
- Players can earn Skyriding Proficiency while leveling, which can be spent on unlocking new talents on the Skyriding Tree.
- Players can swap from Skyriding to Steady Flight (TBC), depending on preference.
- 464 Mounts have Skyriding available.
