The first Open Tech Alpha for Sailing will start in 2025. This new skill passed its poll in August 2023 with 71.9% of players voting yes.
Sailing got its start as one of three skill options presented to players in March 2023. The other choices were Taming and Shamanism.
Players showed strong support for Sailing, which received 36.4% of votes, putting it ahead of the other skills.
The new Sailing skill will let players get their own ships and explore the oceans. This opens up many new ways to play OSRS.
While you wait for Sailing, you can prepare by building up your other skills and making sure you have enough gold. You can buy OSRS gold to help fund your future sailing adventures.
The exact release date isn't set yet, but players can look forward to testing the skill in the Open Tech Alpha next year. This testing phase will help make sure Sailing works well when it launches for everyone.
