Welcome To The Chicks Gold Blog Series!
Within this installment of our blog series, we will be discussing the upcoming RuneScape 3 new skill, "Necromancy." This skill will be the 29th to join the game's ever-growing community, but what can we expect from it? Well, that's what we're here to tell you!
The skill will be a standalone combat skill, existing outside the parameters of the existing combat triangle. Interestingly, this will be the first combat skill to go all the way to level 120, allowing players to reach the max combat level to reach an incredible 152!
So, let's dive into the finer details.
RS3 Necromancy - What Do We Know?
This skill will be intertwined with the first necromancer quest series. These quests will be released alongside the skill, introducing RS3 users to the new mechanics, rewards, and unlocks and preparing them for the two upcoming boss encounters this skill brings! The Necromancy skill in RS3 will be focused on the City of Um in the Grim Underworld; additionally, The First Necromancer will be the antagonist.
So we're in for quite the treat with the introduction of not only a new skill but new areas, enemies, and more!
Necromancy in RS3 - Release Date
An important and burning question on everyone's mind is, when will Necromancy be introduced to the game? Unfortunately, at this time, all Jagex has informed us is that the skill will hit the game sometime in 2023. A recent development update indicates that we will be waiting until at least mid/late summer to early autumn, but until then, there are some exciting new events and updates to keep us busy!
What is The Story Behind RS3 Necromancy?
As with all RuneScape skills, there is a story attached. Not only does this provide the player with a narrative to follow and keep them engaged, but it also allows the game to introduce some new content in the form of areas, characters, and more.
So, what's the story of Necromancy? Well, the Necromancy skill in RS3 focuses on the First Necromancer and the City of Um. There will be at least seven quests to complete upon release of this new skill, with two of these including boss encounters with Hermod, the Spirit of War, and the First Necromancer.
The story will lean toward the elusive character, the First Necromancer, who dates back to the First Age. Since that time, he has done nothing but enslave his undead minions and strive to end the cycle of death. His ambition is to end all life in Gielinor using his armies, so to combat this, players like yourself will work alongside the undead to slowly repopulate the city.
How Will Necromancy in RS3 Be Trained?
This RS3 new skill will be trained by performing non-combative rituals as well as by digging monsters. The combat aspect of this skill will include dual-wield equipment.
The main hand, 'Death Guard,' is a new weapon to enter the game. This weapon sees the player using necrotic attacks in battle. The second part of the dual-wield is rumored to be the off-hand 'Skull Lantern' that can be used to conjure the dead in combat to push to victory.
There will also be new runes, ' Necrotic runes,' to be used in the progression of this skill. So, let's take a more in-depth look at the combat aspects of the RuneScape Necromancy skill.
Another great thing about RS3 Necromancy is that the skill is specifically designed to be fun and entertaining for new players and low-level accounts. So not only does that give existing players some exciting new content without excessive pressure, but also, new players can navigate this skill easily. Meaning that the game can grow its community rather than overwhelm it.
RuneScape 3 Necromancy Combat
As we briefly touched on, Necromancy combat will sit outside of the normal combat parameters. This skill has been designed as an easy-to-learn yet hard-to-master skill, placing emphasis on a new type of auto-attacks.
There is going to be a gradual introduction with additional abilities to give users a chance to wrap their heads around the skill and provide a more impactful experience.
The skills primary combative mechanics of the Necromancy skill in RS3 are necrotic attacks and conjuring the undead. The former are channeled using the primary hand weapon to inflict damage, defund and afflict enemies using new abilities. Whereas the latter use the off-hand weapons to summon the undead to fight by your side. You will be able to conjure numerous different undead warriors; each of these allies will be active for only an allotted time, though players can use abilities to extend this time.
RuneScape 3 Necromancy Rituals
Rituals in RS3s Necromancy will be a non-combative training method. Players will train using this method in the City of Um, gaining experience, collecting materials for combat, upgrading equipment, as well as creating necrotic runes.
Completing rituals will attract the spirits of the city, releasing them into the Well of Souls. Doing so will help with progression, unlocking new tiers of the talents. To conduct these rituals, players must draw glyphs, place light sources and use a focus object to complete the 12 available rituals.
These rituals will channel necromantic energy, inducing random events that offer XP boosts and allowing you to choose between active or passive training.
RuneScape 3 Necromancy Experience Gains
Unlike other skills, Necromancy will include a different XP system to that of the other combat styles. This will ensure a better progression pace by using rate reductions that differ with leveling.
For instance, level 1 means experience will be earned at a reduced rate. As you progress through the levels, XP gains will rise, finally being obtained at a regular rate at level 120.
What Equipment Will Be Used To Train RS3 Necromancy?
As expected, there is equipment accompanying the skill. Necromancy in RS3 will provide an armor set, which is, of course, upgradeable. As mentioned above, of course, the main-hand and off-hand weapons will be a key element of this skill.
Unlike several other skills, you will not receive these upgrades from drops, nor can you craft them from scratch. Instead, to upgrade the equipment, you must complete quests and challenges; this will include up to tier 90 equipment, and tier 95 can be acquired as a reward from the First Necromancer.
The equipment will also be augmentable from tier 75, with the ability to dye at tier 95. However, upon release, dye versions will not be available.
RS3 Necromancy Talents, What Are They?
Talents are set to be a system that will be introduced with Necromancy in RS3. These will allow players to unlock and upgrade their abilities through spending talent points. Talent points can be obtained when using Necromancy in combat, and there will be eight tiers of talent.
Each of these tiers will have a number of progression choices within, and tiers are to be unlocked by performing rituals. Be sure you're happy with the path you are on, as these decisions are irreversible and will set the tone for your journey.
You can, however, upgrade all aspects over time, given you collect enough talent points.
