Welcome to another epic Chicks Gold Blog! In this week's installment, we will be answering the question on many players' minds; that question is 'How do you play PvP in Lost Ark?'. Of course, we will gladly help explain this and explore things such as the level and prerequisites needed to enter the Proving Grounds, can you PvP with friends in Lost Ark, how to unlock PvP, to begin with, and some helpful tips and tricks to ease the grind. Lost Arks PvP mode allows players to truly test their ability without worrying about inventory, weapons, and classes. When entering into Lost Ark PvP more, players have all of their class abilities unlocked, and the effects of gear are neutralized. It is worth noting that the different Classes and Subclasses a player uses to enter PvP will bring significant advantages and disadvantages, depending on which class is selected. So, without further delay, let's get into what you will need to know and do in order to have the best PvP Lost Ark experience.
Season Dates
The season one proving grounds began on March 24th. It is expected the season will run for around six months; though there is no official end date in sight, we suspect it will be some time in September.
How to unlock competitive PvP in Lost Ark?
Many players have a big question: What level do you have to be to play PvP in Lost Ark? The answer to that is that Lost Ask PvP is not available to players until they have reached level 26. They will also have to have accessed the Luterra Castle as part of their main storyline. You will also need to keep in mind that when you enter into PvP mode, you will have a considerably more difficult time fighting fellow players. Players have the additional bonus of being more intelligent and stronger. You also have to take into account that your opponents have a chance of being experienced in counters to your ability.
When you have reached level 26,entered Luterra Castle, and accessed the heart of the castle, you will have to complete these two tasks:
Rebuilding Luterra
This side quest requires a combat level of 27 and is mainly composed of dialogue.
Proving Ground Entry Board
You will be required to interact with the board to choose a match type and to build your Hotbar.
PvP Modes
There are three available Lost Ark PvP modes for players to choose from. So, let's take a little look at what these entail:
- Deathmatch - Six players enter into the match, battling each other for survival.
- Team Deathmatch - Teams of three enter into the match, batting each other for the most kills within a set amount of time.
- Team Elimination - Teams of three enter a match and battle one by one in an elimination-style format.
Other PvP methods in Lost Ark
Challenge to Duel
Players have the additional option of carrying out duels in the overworld. To do so, they will need to press CTRL + right-click on the player they wish to challenge, then select 'Challenge to Duel’. A battle ring will form around you both, and a timer begins, should the player you challenge accept. You will then fight to the death, and the loser will be left standing with 1HP. This method of Lost Ark PvP offers no rewards and is a much more casual approach to the mode.
Custom Games
Another option for those of you who wish to play in a less competitive setting is to form and join Custom Games. These allow the player to choose the mode and setting, allowing for a much more laid-back way to enjoy Lost Ark PvP with friends.
Season one: Ranks
You will need to have played Proving Grounds and achieved at least tier one. Players' results will be tracked and viewed using the 'Competitive Match Average Score’. This will be adjusted depending on your wins and losses. Winning matches will get you points, but when you lose, these will drop off, in turn causing your rank to follow. Your Competitive Match Average Score determines your rank, so let's check out the ranks and the points needed to meet their requirements:
- Bronze - Competitive Match Average Score of 1399 or below.
- Silver - Competitive Match Average Score of 1400-1599.
- Gold - Competitive Match Average Score of 1600-1799.
- Platinum - Competitive Match Average Score of 1800-1999.
- Diamond - Competitive Match Average Score of 2000+.
- Master - The player is among the region's top 31-100 players.
- Grand Master - the player, is amongst the top 30 players in the region.
Coins of Courage
We all know and look forward to end-of-season rewards, and now players can earn these additional tokens to purchase valuable prizes. You can get your hands on the Coins of Courage by entering into PvP matches and winning; once you reach a high enough level, you can simply enter into matches to earn the coins. Make sure to keep in mind that these coins will expire at the end of each season, so if you don't want to miss out, remember to spend them before you run out of time.
Weekly rewards
Depending on your PvP rank, you will receive varying amounts of these tokens each week. The higher your rank, the more rewards you will receive. When you wish to redeem your rewards, you can speak with the Quartermaster; once there, you can exchange your tokens for guild-related items, upgrade materials for PvE gear, and experience point elixirs. PvP players can also get their hands on titles, months, and auras, which are exclusive only to them.
Tips and Tricks for a better Lost Ark PvP experience
Finding your footing in the Proving Ground can be difficult, especially when you're entirely new to the scene. However, there is a lot that this mode offers and a lot to take in regarding it. There is a high chance that a new player's first few matches will end with losses, but that is to be expected. So, don't be discouraged, and let's check out some tips that may get you on the track to a winning streak!
Make sure you know your place
Knowing where to be on the battlefield could be vital to the outcome of your matches. For example, those players who choose a squisher character will need to be on the backline, whereas those who are tanking should really be in the heart of the action. You will also need to know how your class works, as this will prevent you from getting caught up with ineffective counters.
Burst Damage is essential
It is important to note that Lost Ark PvP crowd control (CC) abilities, such as stun, etc., are not as powerful as they would be outside of this setting. So, you will need to choose abilities that will maximize your burst damage. This will allow you to one-shot lower health enemies and squishy targets.
Keep an eye on your teammates
We all love to get those final strikes, so we understand why many players want to dive in and finish off their opponents. This is all well and good, except they could do the same to you. It is for this reason, we advise players to keep a close eye on their Health bars, as well as their team members. Doing so will give you a much better understanding of your chances in battle.
Is Lost Ark PvP cross-server?
This is often a question players have while going about their gaming endeavors, so we thought we would answer it! You will be glad to know that there are ways to group with players from another server. This means you can play together, though there are some inconvenient truths about this. When you do so, only certain activities can be carried out. You also will not be able to add anyone from your friends' list or guild. The unfortunate fact is that you can not create PvP premades with someone from another server; guild vs. guild and stronghold visits will also be server limited. So, in short, despite the many restrictions you may face, yes, it is possible to play cross-server in Lost Ark PvP.
