The Heroes' Quest challenges players with a series of tests to assess their determination to join the prestigious Heroes' Guild. The guildmaster will present several items that players have to acquire to earn the guild's respect. Each item offers its share of obstacles players must overcome to get it.
This experienced-difficulty, medium-length quest demands two players to complete it.
Welcome to another Chicks Gold blog installment, and this time we feature the Heroes' Quest complete walkthrough. If you find this blog useful, we recommend checking out other OSRS-related blogs on our website. To begin with the quest, players must wrap up Lost City, Shield of Arrav, Dragon Slayer I, and Merlin's Crystal quests. Moreover, most items necessary to progress through the quest's story will be available during the quest, such as Fishing Rod and Bait, Ice Gloves, Dusty Key, Pickaxe, and unfinished Harralander potion.
What skills do I really need for Heroes' Quest OSRS?
Heroes' Quest OSRS: Requirements
Players must meet certain level thresholds for Mining (level 50), Cooking (level 53), Fishing (level 53), and Herblore (level 25). Additionally, they must accumulate 55 Quest Points before beginning with the quest.
As mentioned, two players are required to complete the Heroes' Quest, meaning one player will have to take the Black Arm Gang's side and the other Phoenix Gang's. The first, Black Arm player will need the gang's armor set; Black full helm, platebody, and platelegs, while the second player must own either a Magic or Ranged mean of attack.
How to find out which gang I belong to for Heroes' Quest OSRS?
If players are unsure which side they are on, they can check their Shield of Arrav quest log or visit either of the hideouts to see whether they will be accepted or cast away.
Heroes' Quest OSRS: Beginning with the Quest
Starting off, players must locate and talk to Achietties in front of the Heroes' Guild in the Burthorpe region. Achietties will demand three unique items to be obtained so the player can be admitted to the guild. The necessary items are Entrana Firebird Feather, a cooked Lava Eel, and a Master Thieves' Armband. Keep in mind that these must be handed over to Achietties simultaneously, and there is no set order for getting items.
Going after the Entrana Firebird Feather
Players must travel to Entrana and head to the Entranan church to locate the High Priest. He will share that the Firebird lives in the north part of Entrana and its feathers are extremely hot. This is where Ice Gloves come into play.
If Old School RuneScape Heroes' Quest players do not own the Ice Gloves, they must head to White Wolf Mountain and slay the Ice Queen. The queen can be found on the rock slide inside or near the gnome glider outside. Players must have the Pickaxe to open a passage through when entering the rock slide. Players will encounter three ladders, with the southern one taking them to the lair.
Once the tunnel bends, players must go up the first ladder and slay the Ice spiders and Ice giants. From there, they should take the eastern ladder leading downwards and follow the bending tunnel toward two sets of ladders, also leading down. Players will eventually notice a large cave with the boss and many enemies inside.
Standing behind the throne helps evade attacks and deal damage to the Ice Queen, as multiple enemies can attack the player at once, making it challenging to tackle this dungeon alone. It is also recommended to use Stamina and Energy potions.
How to solo Heroes' Quest in OSRS?
Unfortunately, the quest in question is among the few that do not support solo play, unlike its RS3 version.
Cooked Lava Eel is next
To acquire the cooked Lava Eel, players should speak to Gerrant in the fishing shop in Port Sarim, who will give a Blamish Snail Slime to protect the fishing rod from the eels. However, the slime is one of 3 ingredients necessary to make the fishing rod fireproof. Therefore, players should buy Harralander and a water vial from Gerrant and combine them with the Blamish Snail Slime to get Blamish Oil.
Players can either catch eels at the Taverley Dungeon or the Wilderness Lava Maze, but remember that the latter is extremely risky due to PK-ing. If players head to the Taverley Dungeon, we recommend taking the Anti-dragon/Dragonfire Shield and Antifire Potions along with the required items. This Heroes' Quest guide for OSRS will only feature the Taverley Dungeon fishing spot.
Upon reaching Taverley Dungeon, players can enter the pipe if they have 70 Agility and run south. Players should equip their defensive shields before entering because the eel fishing spot is near baby Blue Dragons.
If they cannot use the pipe, they have to circle the dungeon and either use the second Agility shortcut (level 63) or follow the regular path, to reach the gate opened with the Dusty Key. Players who do not have the Dusty Key can follow the regular path South until they reach the Black Knights' Base. Within, they will find Velrak, the explorer who will help them get the key.
A raw Lava Eel can be cooked on a fire or a range with 53 Cooking. We recommend taking Stamina/Energy potions to tackle the dungeon more easily.
Obtaining the Master Thieves' Armband
Moving on to the only part requiring two players; getting hold of the armband. Interestingly, this portion does not have skill requirements, allowing players to help each other and quickly progress the mission. To begin, players have to contact the gang members from the Shield of Arrav quest and have their partner contact the opposing gang.
Can people who have done Heroes' Quest help in OSRS?
Curiously, Jagex decided to incorporate a mechanic that enables players who have completed the quest to replay it again. This means anyone who meets the quest requirements can complete the Heroes' Quest in OSRS as often as they want and offer a helping hand to first-timers.
Black Arm Gang
Players must reach Varrock and gain entry to the Black Arm headquarters to speak to Katrine, who will inform players of a task to attain the master thief rank. The job is to steal candlesticks from pirate Scarface Pete in Brimhaven. Once there, players should look for the alleyway in Palm Street, as that is the hideout of the Black Arm in Brimhaven, and use the code four leafed[sic] clover.
Players have to converse with Trobert, the gang leader in Brimhaven, who shares that Grip, the head guard, has the key to Scarface Pete's treasure room. Luckily, Grip is showing the ropes to a Black Guard deserter who has been robbed of his identification papers by the Black Arm. Next, players have to disguise themselves as the Black Guard and gain entry to Pete's mansion.
How to find Heroes' Quest partner for OSRS?
Since this quest requires two players for its completion, lone wolves might struggle with finding players to team up with. Nonetheless, anyone can find a partner by joining the OSRS Heroes' Quest cc/Shield of Arrav's Grouping Interface chat, 'OSRS SOA', and begin their search there. Also, players can use the official RuneScape thread 'Heroes' & Arrav' and Minigame Group Finder.
By this point, players should wear the Black full helm, platebody, and platelegs. Garv is the guard players must speak to, so they should search for him. Grip will inform the player of their duties and, once the dialogue ends, give you the Miscellaneous key. Regardless of the player's progress, Grip will not allow anyone to enter the treasure room.
Therefore, another player is required. For this part, the OSRS Heroes' Quest Phoenix gang member has to be introduced, so players should leave and trade the key to them. Once back, the goal is to draw attention to the player, so they should enter the northeast room and search the cupboard with Grip's drinks while the Phoenix player enters the room behind the arrowslit.
Once Grip's attention is occupied, the Phoenix player will kill him from hiding. Next, players must pick up the keyring from Grip and enter the treasure room, where two candlesticks can be found. Each player should get one candlestick; Black Arm players should ensure to grab the candlesticks themselves as Katrine may not register players picking them up, otherwise resulting in a restart.
If all goes well, Katrine should grant the player Master Thieves' Armband. If players already have a Miscellaneous key, candlesticks, or Grip's Keyring, they should discard them before attempting the infiltration step to ensure the quest runs smoothly.
What does a Phoenix member do for Heroes' Quest OSRS?
Alternatively, players posing as Phoenix gang members have to speak to Straven, the gang leader in Varrock, and ask about becoming a master thief. He will say that someone is already planning a heist and instruct players to meet the gang member in disguise at The Shrimp and Parrot Inn.
The gang members there will inform players of the blocked secret entrance to the mansion that requires a key. This is where the Miscellaneous key comes into play. Once players obtain the key from their OSRS Heroes' Quest partner, they should enter the mansion through the eastern door and use the key inside on the northern entrance to reach the room with an arrowslit.
Phoenix players should use Ranged or Magic to slay Grip and should always make sure to kill him. Finally, the Black Arm player should trade one of the candlesticks to the player, and they should return to Straven to receive the armband.
Heroes' Quest OSRS: Ending & Rewards
Upon collecting all three items, head back to Achietties and turn them in. Players will receive from 1,325 - 3,075 experience in each of the following twelve skills: Strength, Hitpoints, Attack, Ranged, Fishing, Defence, Smithing, Woodcutting, Cooking, Mining, Firemaking, and Herblore as well as a Quest Point, Heroes' Guild access, access to Fountain of Heroes, and the ability to buy and equip Dragon Battleaxes and Maces, to use Charge Dragonstone Jewellery Scrolls, and to recharge Amulets of Glory at the Fountain of Rune.
What quests require Heroes' Quest in OSRS?
This quest is essential for completing various other quests, including The Fremennik Exiles, Legends' Quest, Throne of Miscellania, Hard Falador Diary, and Recipe for Disaster.
