Be prepared to uncover the secrets of the Forgotten Prince in Elder Scrolls Online. A long-forgotten Prince will walk Tamriel and become a Thread of Fate. The new expansion for ESO will continue with the Secrets of Apocrypha storyline, following the events of Necrom. All the latest content is set in the Colovian region of the West Weald. This new expansion is the eighth chapter that has been introduced since the games launch, and is sure to become a fan favorite with all the enthralling content packed inside this ESO Gold Road DLC. ESO Gold Road Features
The New Gold Road DLC is full of new items, events, world bosses and more. But it’s just the beginning because, with the upcoming updates, you will unlock new companions, housing-related features, and more that will enrich the ESO Gold Road journey. But for now, let’s see what’s new:
New Trial: Lucent Citadel
A brand new 12-player trial hits the game with the new Gold Road in ESO chapter, where you will need to help Keshargo unravel the Arcane Knot in the Lucent Citadel. The main point is to seal the Knot from the Citadel, this will work like the other trials if you are in the leaderboard for Veteran Lucent Citadel. This leaderboard will update at the end of every week, and the system will mail you your rewards.
ESO Gold Road Map: West Weald Zone
You will find the new zone along Cyrodiil’s southwest border near Valenwood and The Gold Coast. You can explore the new location with prosperous Imperial elements, which intertwine with the Valenwood elves and the desire to follow nature. In West Weald, there are three main zones:
- The Gold Road,
- Colovian Highlands
- Dawnwood
Colovian Highlands and the Gold Road are the home of the Imperials, where you will discover the wealthy city of Skingrad. The Gold Road includes landscapes from rocky reaches to vineyards in the highlands, counting the areas ruled by Count Calantius, who founded the region after running away from Cyrodiil. You will find a new mysterious jungle that will represent a thread, just like the Daedric Prince, and it will represent the new Dawnwood regions located at the southwest border of the new zone within Gold Road DLC.
In the Dawnwood jungle you will find Wood Elves that have made this place their home, the ones that follow the call of nature and move to West Weald from Valenwood. You probably won’t find the same Imperial style in this region, but you can find Nantharion, the King of this new land; however, when the elves moved on to the jungle, they found the ruins of Colovian buildings, and now they live around as peaceful immigrants.
That’s not all, as you can investigate the Wildburn, on the edge of the Dawnwood jungle. Here you will find explosive jungle growth caused by the energy and magic of a creature that clashes with the natural fauna and flora of the zone. You will find a devastated region with Wildburn creatures, corrupted animals, and more in a battle of magic and nature.
World Bosses
ESO's Gold Road will include six new world bosses you can fight over in West Weald. Of course, each of these bosses will drop some items and you will have their location shown inside the new regions. Here are the locations of every new World Boss:
- Stri the Fate-Eater: Broken Path Cave
- Thorntooth: Centurion's Rise
- Spinner Urthrendir: Fall's Glade
- Hessedaz the Baleful: Fortune's Bluff
- Recollection Leaders: Frontier's Cradle
- Oakenclaw: Lake Olo
As reward of defeating all the new Gold Road ESO West Weald world bosses, you will receive a couple of achievements to unlock some new collectables:
Gold Road Monster Exterminator: You will get this achievement for completing 1 world boss daily quest. Moreover, this will contribute to the Gold Road Sword for Hire achievement, which is essential to unlock the Wildburn Lynx Mount.
Defender of the Road: Defeat all six world bosses in West Weald, which will let you obtain Nantharion’s Royal Cuirass.
New Items
With the new regions to explore, new items that fit the aesthetic are part of the loot you can gain on your adventure. You can collect all 10 new powerful item sets, some of which are crafted. Gold Road includes three unique Mythic items using the Antiquities system. You can get other items like King Nantharion’s Royal Armor, the Wildburn Lynx Mount, and the new ESO Gold Road Mount. You can obtain both for free by completing some of the new tasks and achievements introduced with this new DLC.
Among these items, there are 224 new furniture items you can find in your journey through West Weald. Moreover, you can get new collective fragments to complete the Tales and Tribute patron and deck. But that’s not all since you can also obtain Skill Styles, which are cosmetics collectives that will let you change the visual for existing abilities. With Gold Road in ESO, you can get up to 22 Skill Styles and apply them to your abilities; they can be unlocked using various sources like quest rewards, public dungeons, and other activities.
Achievements
As we mentioned, in Gold Road DLC, you can find five new achievements you can unlock to gain an outfit, a mount, a title and a skill style. Here is the list of every new achievement with their description:
Hero of the Gold: Complete quests, defeat bosses, and explore delves to become the Hero of Necrom.
Savior of West Weald: Complete quests, explore, acquire antiquities, and become the Savior of West Weald.
Necrom Larcenist: At the Skingrad Outlaws Refuge in the West Weald, receive 20,000 gold for fencing items.
West Weald Skyshards Hunter: Discover all the 18 Skyshards in West Weald.
West Weald Master Angler: Catch all 12 rare fish in West Weald.
ESO Gold Road New System: Scribing
Everything evolves and changes with time, and that’s exactly what you can expect from this system, which is the precursor of what you already know as Spell Crafting. However, this ‘new’ system is actually the old system from 1000 years ago. Gold Road DLC introduced Scribing to give players a wider range of choices in customizing their skills.
You can collect and customize unique skills to edit your primary, secondary and tertiary effects, this is a new step into the full customization inside Elder Scrolls Online. This new addition will focus on the Weapon, Soul Magic, Assault and Support Skill lines, as well as the Magic and Fighters Guild. This decision was made based on the fact that these Skill lines can be used by everyone in-game as they are not class-specific. However, this is just the beginning since Class Skill lines will receive the same features in the following updates.
Each skill line will have at least one unique unlockable skill you can customize with the brand-new Scribing system in Gold Road of ESO. Inside this system, you will find three major resources, here’s what you can find:
Grimoire: Core of the Skill that doesn’t change
Scripts: 3 Scripts slots per Grimoire
Inks: Reagent to change/Scribe skill
The Grimoire represents the core of the system, which will alter new skills and allow you to diversify your gameplay. The Scripts are the pieces that will let you change the skills' characteristics, including heal, damage, buffs, debuffs, and much more. Inks are consumable reagents to change or scribe the skill.

When will the ESO Gold Road release date for PC and console be?
The release date for the new chapter, Gold Road, begins on June 3rd for PC players, but console players will need to wait a little longer until June 18th, when the update will hit each console system.
What is included in the ESO Gold Road Deluxe edition?
The Deluxe Upgrade of Gold Road includes some items available at launch: a mount, a pet, an outfit style, a memento, and an emote pack with three emotes.
Is there an ESO Gold Road new class?
As of the new Gold Road update, Elder Scrolls Online does not have a new class. However, as mentioned, there will be some further updates within this expansion; so there is still time for us to get a new class to take on.
